Last week, several Climate Impetus partners gathered at Eurac Research in Bolzano, Italy, to delve into crucial discussions surrounding project progress and strategies.
The focus was on enhancing coordination among the seven project demo sites, identifying front runners for the implementation of new adaptation pathways, and conducting SWOT analyses to uncover exploitation potential within each demo site.
The meeting also provided a valuable opportunity for a site visit around the picturesque Valle dei Laghi, a region in northern Italy still bearing the hallmarks of a Mediterranean climate.
Guided by local partners at Eurac Research, Waterjade (MobyGIS Srl), and BIM Sarca-Mincio-Garda as well as representatives from the Comune di Madruzzo, Communita Valle dei Laghi, and the Consorzio irriguo di miglioramento fondiario Alto Garda; partners gained insights into ongoing adaptation and mitigation activities aimed at addressing the increasingly irregular water flows brought on by climate change. These efforts are vital as they seek to balance conflicting water needs such as irrigation for agricultural production, drinking water, and hydropower exploitation.
